The Ms. Pat Show is getting a sixth season.
According to a March 26 press release from BET, the new season will make the comedy one of the first BET originals to stream on Paramount+.
BET parent company Paramount Skydance is shutting down the BET+ streaming service and folding BET content into its Paramount+ platform in June.
The Ms. Pat Show starring creator and executive producer, Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams-Lee, is inspired by the author and comedian’s life and her memoir, Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat.
Williams-Lee plays a fictionalized version of herself, as a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom.
Her Emmy-nominated comedy series combines humor with cultural commentary on issues including addiction, racism, immigration, generational trauma, transgender issues, non-binary pronouns, Black hair, and inequality.
Previous cast members have included J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Brittany Inge, Vince Swann, Briyana Guadalupe, and Theodore John Barnes.
So far, there’s no word on the show’s season 6 cast.
Co-created by Tony Award-nominated actor and playwright Jordan E. Cooper, the series debuted in August 2021.
Executive producers are Brian Grazer, Lee Daniels, Jon Radler, Deb Evans, Patrick Walsh, and Rose Catherine Pinkney, alongside Williams-Lee and Cooper.
BET+ subscribers can sign up for Paramount+ for $2.99 for the first two months, the companies said.
