The celebration by the team behind One Battle After Another took a turn Sunday at the Oscars, when Teyana Taylor got into a confrontation with a security guard who allegedly “shoved” her.
The incident happened as the cast and Warner Bros. executives gathered on stage to celebrate their best picture win. Taylor could be heard in videos posted to social media saying to someone off camera: “You’re very rude.”
When a person from the Warner Bros. team asked what happened, Taylor replied, “He put his hands on me.”
Video of the March 15 confrontation at the end of the 98th Academy Awards inside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre quickly went viral.
A female Warner Bros. executive could be seen in the footage grabbing Taylor’s hand and trying to de-escalate the situation.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and President David Zaslav was standing behind the actress and looked perplexed. Another person asked Taylor what was wrong.
“Because he put his hands on a female. What are you doing? He literally shoved me,” she said.

TMZ spoke with the actress and singer after the incident.
“Security was just doing a lot … There’s always that one,” she said. “I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and it’s unprovoked.”
The outlet reported Taylor was trying to return to the stage with Pam Abdi, co-CEO of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, for a best picture photo when a security guard tried to stop them.
Sources told the outlet the guard used his body to block Taylor, and tried to “physically hold her back and push her away from the stage to prevent her from getting past him.”
Per TMZ, the guard asked Taylor to apologize after she raised her voice.
Academy publicity did not immediately respond to Urban Hollywood 411‘s request for comment.
Despite the behind the scenes drama, One Battle After Another was the big winner on Sunday night and picked up a leading six Oscars, including the coveted best picture trophy.
As the film’s writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson dashed to the stage to collect the award, Taylor grabbed his neck and literally put him in a headlock.
Later, she laughed it off in an interview with Variety and said, “I’m such a sports girl… it’s our little inside joke and he already knew the headlock was coming.”
Taylor received a supporting actress nomination for her role as revolutionary fighter “Perfidia” in the film.
The award ultimately went to Amy Madigan for her performance in the psychological horror thriller, Weapons.
