Devon Walker is saying goodbye to SNL after three seasons.
The Saturday Night Live cast member announced his exit on Monday, Aug. 25, in a post on Instagram, saying he would not be returning to the NBC sketch series for season 51.
Walker, 34, shared the news with a gallery of photos and captioned the post: “Me and baby broke up.”

The comedian included photos from the set and a screengrab of a statement about his departure. He titled the statement: “Wait… Did he quit or did he get fired?”
“To me, jobs in this industry feel like a bunch of little marriages. Some of em last for a long time if we’re lucky, but most of them are fleeting. Permanent until they’re not. That’s the deal. You know what it is when you sign up,” he began.
“Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But we did what we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f—ked up lil family.”
He said he was on his way to Japan. When he returns, he plans to look for work, preferably on a “prestige drama” alongside Oscar, Primetime Emmy and Daytime Emmy-winning actress Julianne Moore.
Walker ended his statement with a joke about “staying hydrated and getting some money.”
Earlier this month, the comedian released a stand-up special titled LOL Live on Hulu, executive produced by Kevin Hart. The special touches on what reparations should look like, and his experiences on SNL working with superstars like Chris Rock.
Walker joined SNL in 2022 as a featured player for season 48, and was promoted to a regular cast member.
He previously worked as a writer on the animated Netflix series Big Mouth and for the Freeform comedy series Everything’s Trash.
His departure from SNL comes just days after series creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels said there would be cast changes on the late-night show for its 51st season.
In an interview with subscription-based outlet Puck News, published on Aug. 22, the outlet asked Michaels if there would be a shakeup and he said, “Yeah, for sure.”
“It’ll be announced in a week or so,” he said via Late Nighter.
Michaels, who is 80, added that he began handing over some of his duties to his team in “the past year or so.”
“There’s a lot of people in that room with a lot of opinions. I make the final decision, obviously. But it’s not as if people don’t let me know how strongly they feel,” he said.
Season 51 of SNL debuts Saturday, Oct. 4 on NBC, the network announced when it unveiled its fall 2025 schedule.
