Savannah Guthrie has released a new video increasing the reward for information leading to the recovery of her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.
In a Feb. 24 video on social media, Savannah noted that Guthrie has been missing for 24 days and the family is offering “up to $1 million” for information leading to her whereabouts.
“Every hour and minute and second, and every long night has been agony,” she said, fighting back tears.
“We know that millions of you have been praying — so many people have been praying of every faith and no faith at all, praying for her return and we feel those prayers,” she continued. “Please keep praying without ceasing. We still believe. We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home, hope against hope, as my sister says. We are blowing on the embers of hope.”
But the Today anchor acknowledged it may be too late to save her mother’s life.
“We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone,” Savannah said. “She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves.”
The caption to the post included details on how to contact the FBI and read: “Someone knows how to find our mom and bring her home.”
Savannah added that the Guthrie family is donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
“We know there are millions of families that have suffered with this kind of uncertainty,” she said.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The FBI previously announced a $50,000 reward, then doubled the amount to $100,000 for “information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”
Tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), or online at tips.fbi.gov.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona said investigators believe Guthrie was “taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction.”
A suspect was recorded on a home video surveillance camera. He is described as approximately 5’9” to 5’10”, with an average build. The video showed he was wearing a black, 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack.
“We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving,” the bureau said in a statement. “Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement.”
After releasing the surveillance footage, the FBI said it quickly received “over 13,000 tips from the public.”
But so far, no one has been arrested.
Authorities have described Guthrie as a “vulnerable adult” because she has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker, and needs daily medication for a heart condition.
