A woman accused of opening fire on the Los Angeles home Rihanna shares with her family has been identified as a fan with a fixation on the singer.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, was officially booked early Monday morning on suspicion of attempted murder.
She is being held on $10.225 million bail as she awaits her first court appearance, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate information website.
The Los Angeles Times reported Ortiz is a licensed speech pathologist from Orlando, Florida. Citing public records, the paper said she was previously arrested on suspicion of careless driving in 2021, and domestic violence and battery in 2023. It’s unclear when she arrived in California.
Gunfire erupted on March 8 at 1:15 p.m. outside the home the singer, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, shares with her partner A$AP Rocky and their three young children. The LAPD said the shooter used an AR-15 type rifle.
Local news outlets reported the superstar singer was home at the time, but no one was injured.
Rihanna’s mansion is located in the Beverly Crest neighborhood of L.A. on Heather Road just off of Coldwater Canyon Drive. The tree-lined neighborhood is adjacent to Beverly Hills.
Urban Hollywood 411 drove to the scene of the shooting on Sunday. The community is not gated, although a tall white privacy wall surround’s Rihanna’s house.
Multiple LAPD squad cars blocked Heather Road and there was yellow crime scene tape around the neighborhood.
Residents were required to show identification to enter the area. A couple of food delivery drivers arrived and were told to wait at the police blockade while the people who ordered food were notified.
Earlier today, TMZ obtained a copy of the dispatch call sending police officers and detectives to the property. “A shooting just occurred… approximately ten shots heard,” a dispatcher said.
Two more people joined the call and someone noted shots were “fired from the vehicle at the gate” outside the home. Local news stations reported at least two other houses were hit by gunfire.
The dispatchers described the suspect’s car as a Tesla Model 3, with four-doors, and possible temporary license plates. One of the dispatchers said camera footage was being reviewed to get the license number.
The dispatchers said the vehicle was last seen fleeing south on Coldwater Canyon. Local news station ABC 7 reported the driver reached the parking lot of the Sherman Oaks Galleria, about 20 minutes away, in the San Fernando Valley section of L.A.
An LAPD helicopter followed the Tesla and the woman was arrested at the mall by patrol officers. A motive for the shooting is unclear.
The L.A. Times and TMZ reported Monday that a Facebook page belonging to Ortiz includes multiple posts mentioning Rihanna.
TMZ also found a YouTube video that it said showed Ortiz ranting about the singer. The woman in the video held a book about faith and prayer, and disparaged the “Umbrella” artist.
“She looks really stupid and corny and everyone knows it,” the woman said about the singer. “The way that Rihanna wants to kill me, she’s the one who wants to kill me.”
