Real Housewives of Potomac alum Mia Thornton was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony theft, as a police body camera recorded the emotional ordeal.
Thornton, 40, was taken into custody at Atlanta’s airport on Nov. 19, after U.S. customs officers discovered there was a warrant out for her arrest and notified local authorities, the Atlanta Police Department said in a news release.
“Officers assigned to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport responded to a wanted person call at the Customs and Border Protection office,” the police department said. “Officers identified the individual as Ms. Mia Fields-Thornton, who had an active City of Atlanta warrant related to a larceny involving an alleged furniture theft.”

In body camera footage police posted on their website, the former reality star was asked if she knew there was a warrant out for her arrest.
“Yes,” she told one of the responding officers. Thornton was cooperative as the officer informed her she would be taken to a precinct for processing, then transferred to the Fulton County Jail.
When the officer asked her to turn around so he could put her in handcuffs, Thornton began to tense up and cry.
“Relax for a second, relax,” the officer told her. A second officer stood nearby and watched as she sobbed.
The officer with the handcuffs tried to get her to calm down and told Thornton she would be able to decompress once she was placed in a holding cell.
According to the police report obtained by Urban Hollywood 411, the Bravo star is accused of stealing furniture and electronics valued at more than $11,000 from a condominium she was renting in the 700 block of West Marietta Street in Atlanta.
The report said she rented the apartment with a man named Jared McGriff, but they “suddenly moved out of the unit in the middle of the night” on Oct. 28, and allegedly took furniture, a TV, radio, and DVD player.
CBS Atlanta reports Thornton was charged with “theft by taking,” citing Fulton County Jail records. She has not yet addressed the arrest.
In April 2025, she posted on Instagram that she would not return to RHOP because she was leaving Maryland for Georgia.
“My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season,” she wrote.
“The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories. I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story,” Thornton added. “To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments. And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me.”
