Well-wishes are pouring in for Ray J after he was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas.
Citing a “source close to the R&B singer,” TMZ reports the Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star was hospitalized on Tuesday, Jan. 6, after experiencing chest pains and being diagnosed with pneumonia.
Ray J, born William Ray Norwood Jr., has since undergone a battery of tests. TMZ published pictures and a video of the reality star resting in a hospital bed as a medical technician performed an echocardiogram. The 44-year-old performer whispered to someone off camera about his heart during the test.
Friends and fans took to his Instagram page and posted messages of concern under a Wednesday Post saying he would be celebrating his birthday in Austin, Texas on Jan. 18.
Among the comments were “I’m praying for you” and “get better soon, Ray!”
This latest saga comes just six weeks after Ray J was arrested and banned from Twitch, following a live-streamed domestic dispute with his ex-wife Princess Love Norwood on Thanksgiving day.
While streaming live, the singer and actor started shouting, “I got my kids in here with me. Ain’t nobody taking my kids away from me on Thanksgiving.”
Princess Love walked into the frame and responded, “Yes, I’m gonna get my kids.”
She then said multiple times, “You just pointed a gun at us!”
Princess Love later released a video statement saying she took their children to Ray J’s house to spend Thanksgiving with their dad, but the situation spiraled out of control.
The LAPD responded to the home in the city’s Porter Ranch neighborhood and Ray J was taken into custody on suspicion of “making a criminal threat.”
He posted $50,000 bond later in the day and was released, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate information website.
After his release, Ray J shared a statement on Instagram, telling his fans he’d been banned from Twitch.
A message on his Twitch page said, “This channel is currently unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.”
Ray J was arraigned on Dec. 19, and charged with six misdemeanor counts by the L.A. City Attorney’s office, including brandishing a firearm and child endangerment, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported.
On Dec. 24, he posted a video to Instagram showing an empty room and included a caption saying he was having a “lonely Christmas.”
“No kids, no presents, no little feet running around – just a tree and the weight of missing what matters most,” he wrote. “I’m learning the hard way. I understand that not every lesson comes gently. Life teaches in many ways. I’m listening.”
