The next chapter of the Ghost and Tommy story is moving forward at Starz.

The network announced Tuesday it has officially greenlit Power: Origins, a prequel on the beginnings of the fan favorite Power characters, with the first season consisting of 18 episodes.

The series explores the pair’s rise as ambitious young entrepreneurs determined to get rich or die trying on the streets of New York City.

“Our fans have been asking for Ghost and Tommy’s origins story since we first met them in Power — and with the launch of this series, we’re delivering in a big way,” Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for Starz, said in a statement.

The project was first announced in March 2024. At the time, few details were available.

Starz now says the show will be “action-packed” as it highlights the “audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game.”

The show will also feature a young Kanan Stark, with MeKai Curtis of Power Book III: Raising Kanan reprising his role, per Starz.

For now, Starz isn’t saying if Omari Hardwick, who originated the role of James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the Power Universe, or Joseph Sikora aka Tommy Egan will appear on the show.

Power: Origins marks the fourth spinoff of the original Power — after Power Book II: Ghost; Power Book III: Raising Kanan; and Power Book IV: Force.

Sascha Penn, a longtime member of the Power family, will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer of Power: Origins.

“I’m excited to continue to explore the origin stories of the Power Universe’s founding fathers,” said Penn. “Ghost and Tommy’s backstories have fueled years of constant fascination and speculation among fans, and I’m thrilled to be able to answer some long-held questions and share new layers of the story that viewers won’t see coming.”

Lionsgate Television will produce the series for Starz.

The drama is executive produced by Power creator and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Mark Canton. Additional executive producers include Chris Selak and Pete Chatmon.

A premiere date will be announced later.
