Alix Lapri, an actress known to fans for her role as a brilliant but troubled student on Power Book II: Ghost, is facing child cruelty and disorderly conduct charges in Georgia.

Lapri, 28, was arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia, on Aug. 18, according to Atlanta news station WSB-TV 2.

The actress, whose full name is Alexus Lapri Geier, was charged with one count of third-degree cruelty to children and one count of disorderly conduct.

The Atlanta resident reportedly spent just over 24 hours in custody before she was released.

NBC News reported Lapri was involved in an incident that took place on Aug. 10. However, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment on what exactly happened, and reps for Lapri had no comment.

The actress played Effie Morales, a student involved in the drug game, on Power and its spinoff Power Book II: Ghost.

After signing with Crown World Entertainment in 2011, she released several song covers. Lapri began her career as a singer, releasing her first EP I Am Alix Lapri in 2012, before turning to acting.

She appeared alongside Gerard Butler and 50 Cent in the 2018 film Den of Thieves, playing Maloa, the daughter of 50 Cent’s character.

Shortly after, in 2019 she joined Starz’s Power franchise, where she remained through Ghost, which aired its final episode last October.

The actress has often referred to 50 Cent, an executive producer of Power and its spin-offs, as a father figure. Last year, she posted on Instagram calling him “a proud dad” in a photo and video carousel.

Other TV series she’s starred in include Read Between The Line, Red Band Society.

Lapri has not addressed the arrest directly. On Tuesday, as headlines circulated, she shared an Instagram story with Drake’s song “What Did I Miss?” featuring the lyric: “I don’t give a f–k if you love me,” with part of her face on screen.

On her Instagram feed, she has continued posting unrelated updates, including a recent picture of a TV set with the caption “gotta keep at it buddy. chase the dream and know no fear.”

Her co-star Michael Rainey Jr., who played Tariq St. Patrick on Power Book II: Ghost, defended her after The Shade Room posted her mugshot and the picture went viral.

In the comments section, he wrote: “On the real though y’all gotta start reading before commenting. She didn’t hurt any kids. Y’all are hoping that’s the case so bad… that’s crazy smh.”

Under Georgia law, third-degree cruelty to children does not require direct harm. It is defined as committing or allowing a child under 18 to witness a forcible felony, battery, or family violence battery.

Jail time can be up to one year for a first or second conviction and a possible fine.
