Omar Gooding is hospitalized after a car accident left him with a serious neck injury.

The Family Time and Baby Boy star shared an update on his condition Sunday, March 29, in a video he posted to Instagram. The footage showed Gooding resting in a hospital bed with a neck brace on.

“There will not be a clone of me, I’m good. No surgery needed,” he said in the video.

The 49-year-old Los Angeles native explained what happened in the caption for the video.

“Yes , I was in a bad accident. No I did not break my neck… completely,” he shared. “Hangman’s fracture is what they call it. GOD IS GOOD.”

Gooding said he was sleeping in the backseat, while being driven to an airport when the crash happened. “Yes I had my seatbelt on or it would have been worse,” he wrote.

He asked his friends to limit phone calls and text messages so he can rest.

“I am making this post so that y’all can stop calling and asking what happened! I need to keep my phone on so family can reach me. Not sure how long I will be hospitalized,” he said.

The actor added that his doctors told him it will take months to recover.

“I will be updating my website with my show dates but my doc is saying 3 months of recovery time so I will see y’all in time for the summer! Stay BLESSED! And tell a loved one you love them,” he concluded.

According to his IMDb page, Gooding has been filming a movie called 3 Flowers. The film from writer-director Christopher Baiza tells a family story set in East Los Angeles. He also has several other projects in the works.

Among his previous credits are the Barbershop television series, and the TV shows Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, Single Ladies, One on One, and Saturdays.

Gooding is the younger brother of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr.
