News reports have surfaced saying Offset is being sued by a Michigan casino over thousands of dollars in unpaid debt.

Details about the lawsuit surfaced days after Offset, 34, was shot during a dispute outside a casino in Florida.

The MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit alleges the former Migos rapper obtained a $100,000 line of credit in March 2024, so he could continue gambling through the night. But in court documents obtained by TMZ, the casino alleges the rapper has refused to settle the debt.

The lawsuit includes a copy of a check for $100,000. It has NSF stamped on top, meaning non sufficient funds. The complaint says the casino attempted to contact the rapper, but could not reach him.

MotorCity Casino Hotel accuses the rapper of breach of contract and fraud. A rep for the hip-hop star tells TMZ, “We are working toward a resolution.”

The lawsuit was filed on March 30, a week before Offset was shot and injured in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Seminole police said the shooting happened on April 6, after a fight broke out around 7 p.m.

Offset, born Kiari Cephus, was rushed to an area hospital. His rep said the rapper suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was listed in stable condition.

Fellow rapper Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was one of two people detained after the incident, according to police.

Merritt, 24, was charged with disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office’s inmate records website.

He posted $3,000 bond and was released. The second person arrested was not immediately charged.

Media reports quickly spread saying the shooting stemmed from an unpaid gambling debt. Lil Tjay’s attorney released a statement disputing those reports and insisted he did not shoot Offset.

“We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors,” attorney Dawn M. Florio said in a press release.

Offset is the estranged husband of rapper Cardi B. The two share three children and Offset has three other children from previous relationships.
