Nicki Minaj narrowly avoided losing her $20 million Southern California mansion, by suddenly settling a debt with a former security guard.
In 2024, security guard Thomas Weidenmuller was awarded $503,000 in damages after filing a lawsuit alleging he was physically assaulted by the rapper’s husband, Kenneth Petty.
Weidenmuller said Petty punched him in the face at a 2019 concert in Frankfurt, Germany, because he was defending a female security staffer during a dispute with Minaj backstage. Petty allegedly became enraged that Weidenmuller had “disrespected” his wife.
The security guard filed a lawsuit in 2022, claiming he felt “blinding pain” in his head, neck, face, and jaw after being punched.
Minaj and Petty never responded to the complaint, which prompted the court to award a default judgment against the couple.
A Los Angeles County judge gave the couple until Thursday, Jan. 22, to satisfy the debt or lose their house.
Minaj reached a last-minute deal with the security guard, just before Superior Court Judge Cindy Pánuco was set to rule on the case Thursday, Rolling Stone reported.
“She has satisfied the judgment,” the guard’s lawyer, Paul Saso, told the outlet. “It required us going to the one-yard line.”
The amount of the settlement was not disclosed, but Saso said his client was thrilled with the outcome.
“He is incredibly gratified, happy. It’s been a long time coming to have justice finally done here, but he’s very happy for himself. He suffered a very heinous attack years ago, and not only did it take years to achieve the judgment, but it then took nearly two years to enforce that judgment,” Saso added.
Weidenmuller was working at a Minaj show on March 22, 2019, when he alleged Petty attacked him. He filed a lawsuit three years later and was awarded $503,000 damages, but the couple never settled the debt.
On Oct. 6, 2025, Weidenmuller asked the court to order the rapper’s home to be sold to help him collect the money he was owed.
