The fourth season of teen dramedy Sex Education will be the last, Netflix announced Wednesday.
The streamer also released a teaser trailer, along with plot details and the premiere date for the final season.
The series starring Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey and Gillian Anderson, centers on the students, staff and parents at fictional Moordale Secondary School and its underground sex therapy clinic.
Aimee-Lou Wood won a BAFTA TV Award in the Female Performance in a Comedy category in 2021 for her performance as “Aimee Gibbs” in the series.
Fan favorite Asa Butterfield leads the cast as Otis Milburn and says in the trailer, “I spend a lot of my free time thinking about sex.”

The cast also includes Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Mimi Keene, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Dua Saleh, Alistair Petrie, Samantha Spiro, Jim Howick, Rakhee Thakrar and Daniel Ings.
Joining the series for season 4 are Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy, alongside Thaddea Graham, Lisa McGrillis, Marie Reuther (Kamikaze), Jodie Turner Smith, comedian Eshaan Akbar, and newcomers Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, Reda Elazouar, Bella Maclean, and Imani Yahshua.
Here’s the official description for the final season: “Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier — their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, while Eric is praying they won’t be losers again.
“But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students — they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being… kind?!”
Laurie Nunn, who previously received a BAFTA Breakthrough Talent nomination, is creator, lead writer and executive producer.
“We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode. They have worked tirelessly to bring you the final series, and we can’t wait to share it with you,” Nunn said in a statement Wednesday.
Additional executive producers include Jamie Campbell, Ben Taylor, and Clare Couchman. Producers are Callum Devrell-Cameron and Rem Conway.
The series premiered in 2019, and won the 2022 International Emmy for best comedy.
The final season is produced was filmed in Wales, UK. Season 4 of Sex Education premieres Sept. 21 on Netflix.
