Megan Thee Stallion received a warm welcome Thursday night when she returned to the stage for Moulin Rouge! The Musical, after becoming ill earlier this week.
Broadway World posted a video on Instagram, showing the Grammy Award-winning rapper walking on stage at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City to thunderous applause.
Megan plays Zidler in the Broadway production. At the end of the show, she stood alongside the rest of the cast and they were showered with confetti.
The rapper was rushed to an area hospital on Tuesday, March 31, after becoming “very ill” in the middle of the show.
Her reps released a statement, saying doctors told her she was suffering from “exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels.” Vasoconstriction is a narrowing or constriction of the blood vessels, according to Healthline.
Megan released a statement on Instagram Wednesday letting fans know how she was doing.
“Last night was a real wake-up call for me. I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough,” she shared.
“It honestly scared me. I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t. Hotties I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting y’all down,” she continued. “I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been. I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100 percent the way you deserve.”
As she said, she was back in costume and on stage this evening.
The musical is based on the Oscar-winning 2001 film Moulin Rouge! about a struggling artist in 1890s Paris, who falls in love with Satine, a beautiful lady of the night and nightclub star.
