Maurene Comey, the federal prosecutor who recently led the case against Sean “Diddy” Combs, has been fired by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Politico was first to report the news, citing sources who said Comey was dismissed on Wednesday, July 16, from her post as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York. The Associated Press also confirmed the firing, though no official reason was given.
Comey, daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, held the official title of senior trial counsel in the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office, and had worked there for nearly a decade.

She worked on several high-profile cases during her time at the DOJ, including the sex trafficking prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in 2019.
Most recently, she served as lead prosecutor in the criminal case against Diddy, which ended earlier this month with a mixed verdict, when a federal jury found the music mogul guilty of two lesser counts but acquitted him of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Politico and the AP both noted that the firing comes amid ongoing tensions between the Justice Department and the Trump administration over the Epstein case, whether his client list exists, and if it should be released publicly.
According to the AP, sources said DOJ lawyers who’ve handled politically sensitive cases have been under scrutiny and that Maurene Comey has long been seen as a possible target due to her father’s rocky relationship with Trump.
James Comey was appointed FBI director by President Obama and was later fired by Trump in 2017, during the early stages of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The Justice Department has not commented publicly on Maurene Comey’s dismissal.

This is great news! Maurene Comey used her position as a prosecutor for personal agendas. Finally, these prosecutors are exposed and terminated from the jobs.
This is a victory for Diddy because the prosecutors humiliated him. There were no sufficient evidence of racketeering, and they denied Diddy’s bail from the day he was arrested.
The judges should be next to be terminated because they should’ve not submitted a video of domestic violence, and Diddy’s case didn’t include domestic violence, and the judge also included the Mann law that is racially motivated and targeted black men.
