Lizzo has revealed she tried Ozempic during her weight loss journey, but ultimately she found something else that she said worked better.

The “About Damn Time” singer discussed the path to reaching her goals on the Thursday, June 19 episode of the Trisha Paytas podcast, “Just Trish.”

“I worked so hard for it,” Lizzo, 37, said when asked how she lost weight.

The singer noted that she exercises daily and goes for walks, and said she feels like her life has “elevated” since she committed to improving her health.

When Trisha mentioned Ozempic, Lizzo confirmed she’d used a GLP-1 drug.

“I’ve tried everything,” she said.

The Grammy-winning singer added that she doesn’t think it’s fair when people say using weight loss medication is “cheating.”

“It’s their way of being fatphobic,” she said. “I just feel like people like to make fun of fat people.”

“Ozempic works because you eat less food. So if you eat right, it makes you feel full,” Lizzo explained. “But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same thing.”

She said she started to see real results when she gave up her vegan diet.

“When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full,” she explained.

“When I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that [weren’t] actually filling me up,” she added.

Still, she said she understands why people use weight loss drugs.

“It’s not easy,” Lizzo insisted.

The singer and rapper also discussed viral TikTok videos spreading misinformation about her weight loss journey. “I’ve just seen a lot of TikToks where it’s like, ‘Lizzo talks about her 500-pound weight loss,’” she said. “I was like, ‘Why are y’all putting numbers on me?’”

In January, she updated fans with a post on Instagram and said she had reached her goal. She included two selfies that showed stats on an app revealing she lowered her body mass index by 10.5 and lost 16 percent of her body fat.

The singer has been documenting her progress for months. But as some of her followers questioned if she was using weight loss drugs, she previously denied using Ozempic.
