Lil Nas X was arrested early Thursday morning for battery on a police officer after the LAPD responded to calls about a “nude man walking in the street.”

The rapper, born Montero Hill, was taken to a hospital and booked for battery on a police officer, according to TMZ and the Los Angeles Times.

TMZ broke the story and published a video of the “Industry Baby” rapper wearing only white underwear and white cowboy boots around 4 a.m. on Aug. 21.

The footage showed the Atlanta-born artist strutting down the middle of Ventura Boulevard in L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood.

The incident unfolded in the dark as Lil Nas X sang to himself, while clapping his hands, laughing, and stopping to strike a pose.

At one point, the 26-year-old rapper invited someone on the street to a party.

“Don’t miss the party tonight. Why are you still here? You need to be telling everybody about the f–king party tonight, girl,” Lil Nas X said.

While Ventura Boulevard was relatively quiet, people called 911 to report the strange scene and the LAPD responded.

The Grammy-winning rapper allegedly charged at officers. He was subdued, transported to an area hospital for a possible overdose at about 5:50 a.m., and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department online inmate information portal, the “Montero” rapper was later taken to the LAPD’s Valley Jail in Van Nuys and is being held on a misdemeanor count.

The rapper’s publicist did not immediately respond to Urban Hollywood 411‘s request for comment.

Shortly before being hospitalized, Lil Nas X uploaded a video to Instagram showing himself singing, dancing and playing a tambourine.

He was wearing a white bathrobe and tan cowboy boots, and recorded the footage in a room scattered with clothes and towels.

Fans expressed concern about his well-being in the comments section, telling the rapper “you are loved” and “come back.”

In April, Lil Nas X shared video of himself in a hospital bed, and said he had suffered partial facial paralysis.

“Soooo lost control of the right side of my face,” he captioned the video, and said he could barely smile.

“This is me doing a full smile right now, by the way,” he said. “It’s like what the f–k. Bro, I can’t even laugh right, bro. What the f–k. Ah! Oh my God.”

The rapper rocketed to fame in 2018, with his No. 1 single “Old Town Road.”

The song was initially considered a country hit, but Billboard removed the single from its Top Country 100 list, saying it lacked “elements of today’s country music in its current version.”

The decision sparked criticism, ignited complaints about racism, and angered fans of the song, including Justin Bieber and Will Smith.

Lil Nas X responded to the controversy by recording a remix featuring country music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus. The two performed the song at the 2019 BET Awards and brought the crowd to its feet.
