Looking upbeat and smiling, Lil Nas X made his first court appearance on Monday in Los Angeles, since he underwent in-patient treatment following his arrest in August.

Wearing a brown leather jacket, tan pants, a white shirt, and cowboy boots, the rapper walked into the Van Nuys Courthouse with his attorneys Drew Findling and Christy O’Connor by his side.

When a photographer asked how he was doing, Lil Nas X responded “okay.”

The Grammy-winning artist, born Montero Hill, appeared in court for a preliminary hearing where the judge signed a motion concerning discovery in his case. After the hearing, Findling briefly spoke with reporters.

“As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great and we’re super happy for him,” the attorney said. “We’re just looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we’re very confident of.”

Hill’s legal odyssey began on Aug. 21, when LAPD police officers responded to calls from residents about a “nude man walking in the street.”

Video from the scene showed the “Old Town Road” artist singing and strutting down the middle of Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley area of L.A. He was wearing only white underwear and cowboy boots.

The rapper later removed his underpants and was recorded walking through the area barefoot and nude.

Hill was previously scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing on Sept. 15.

His attorneys informed the court that he was “not present” because he was “in treatment” at an undisclosed location outside of California.

Superior Court Judge Shellie Samuels signed a motion to keep the details of Hill’s treatment under seal and said his $75,000 bond would remain in place.

Following his arrest, prosecutors alleged Hill assaulted several police officers who tried to detain him, leaving at least three injured. The rapper was transported to a hospital amid concerns that he might have been suffering from a drug overdose.

He was charged with four felonies — three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman described Hill as a “threat to public safety.”

The rapper made his first court appearance on Aug. 25, and pleaded not guilty. At the time, defense attorney Christy O’Connor told the judge there was no evidence drugs were involved.

Hill faces up to five years in state prison if convicted as charged. He is scheduled to return to court on March 12.

“See you in March,” Findling told reporters Monday.
