HGTV has parted ways with Rehab Addict, after star and producer Nicole Curtis was recorded casually using the “n-word” in a resurfaced video from the set.

Curtis landed at the center of controversy when RadarOnline published the secret video early Wednesday morning, Feb. 11. In response, HGTV canceled her home renovation show which was scheduled to return today with new episodes after a lengthy hiatus.

“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV,” the network said in a statement to Urban Hollywood 411.

In addition to pulling the plug on the show, HGTV yanked it from streaming platforms.

“Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace,” the network added.

Rehab Addict premiered in 2010 and followed Curtis as she rehabilitated historic houses.

Radar reported the video containing the racial slur was recorded two years ago in Wyoming. According to published reports, that particular renovation aired in 2025, without the slur.

The resurfaced video showed Curtis having trouble with a renovation project. She became frustrated and blurted out the racial slur as cameras rolled.

“Why? It’s the last one. Oh, fart n—r,” she said as someone in the crew laughed.

Seconds later, Curtis realized what she’d just said.

“What the f–k is that I just said?” she insisted to someone off camera. “Nick, you gotta, you gotta, can you kill that? F–k my life.”

Radar didn’t say how it obtained the footage. But it did note that some members of the production crew loathed Curtis, with one calling her a “trash human.”

The outlet posted the video on YouTube. Since this morning, it’s gotten about 13,000 views as of publication time.

Curtis released a statement on social media Wednesday evening after HGTV scrapped her show.

“There is more to this, but my family comes first and I need to be a mom right now more than anything else,” she said. “I will take the time to be as I’ve always been with you, transparent and honest.”

She also shared a text exchange with TMZ on her Instagram stories after the website contacted her for comment.

“Regarding HGTV, I’m grateful for the 15-year journey we’ve shared,” she wrote adding, “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.”
