When the nominations were announced Monday morning for the 2026 Golden Globes, Regina Hall and Jennifer Lopez were among the high-profile names missing from the list.
Hall plays an activist and revolutionary named “Deandra” in One Battle After Another. The acclaimed action thriller picked up acting nods for Leonardo Dicaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and newcomer Chase Infiniti. But Hall was snubbed by Hollywood Foreign Press Association voters.
Globes voters completely ignored Kiss of the Spider Woman starring Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna and Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, known professionally as Tonatiuh.
Based on the 1992 stage production by the same name and a 1976 novel, the movie-musical bombed at the box office and earned just $1.7 million against a reported $30 million production budget. The film was written and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Bill Condon.
In another snub, the Sydney Sweeney-led biopic Christy about trailblazing boxer Christy Martin failed to pick up a single nomination. Sweeney portrays Martin, who was one of the most successful female boxers of the 1990s.
The film struggled at the box office and to date has only earned $1.9 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The biopic had a reported budget of $15 million.

The Netflix political thriller A House of Dynamite was snubbed as well. The film from Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow stars Idris Elba as president of the United States. The cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Tracy Letts, Jared Harris, and Anthony Ramos.
Globes voters instead embraced writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which received a leading nine nominations. It is among the best-reviewed films of the year, with a 94 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Joachim Trier’s Norwegian comedy-drama Sentimental Value received eight nods, and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners picked up seven nominations.
Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall announced the nominees in 28 categories.
The 83rd Annual Golden Globes will air live from Beverly Hills on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The ceremony will also be available to stream on Paramount+. Comedian Nikki Glaser is set to host the awards for a second consecutive year.
