The Federal Bureau of Investigation offered new details on Thursday, as the search continued for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.
In a social media post on Feb. 12, the FBI offered a physical description of the person recorded by a doorbell camera outside Guthrie’s Arizona home the day she disappeared.
The individual is described as “a male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build.”
The FBI’s Operational Technology Division was able to put together a description after conducting forensic analysis of the doorbell surveillance footage.
The social media post called the masked man a “suspect,” and said he was wearing a black, 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” model of backpack. The post included photos of the same type of backpack.

The Bureau also doubled its reward to $100,000 for “information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”
According to the FBI, “over 13,000 tips from the public” have come in about the case since Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1.
“We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving,” the post read. “Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement.”
The FBI noted “dozens of agents and investigators” are working on the case.
A person of interest detained earlier this week in Rio Rico, Arizona — near the U.S.-Mexico border — was released after a few hours of questioning.
The man told reporters he’s a delivery driver in the area, and likely dropped off a package at Guthrie’s house. Otherwise, he said, “I’m innocent.”
“They told me I was being detained for kidnapping. I asked, ‘Kidnapping of who?’ And they told me this lady, I don’t know her name,” said the man who only wanted to be identified as Carlos.
He said he was with his family when local and federal law enforcement surrounded their vehicle.
“My wife was driving. They were following me,” he said. “I got out of the car and they arrested me as soon as I got out the car. They didn’t even tell me what was going on.”
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her home in Tucson, Arizona after going out for dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law.
Her family has said she has health problems, uses a pacemaker, and needs life-saving medication.
