A night on the town ended in carnage in East Hollywood, when a driver plowed into a crowd outside a nightclub, injuring 30 people before he was shot by a bystander early Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. at the corner of Vermont Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles police said in a statement.
People were leaving The Vermont Hollywood after attending a show when the violence unfolded.
As clubgoers waited to collect their cars from the valet, a vehicle came barreling down the sidewalk, struck the crowd, the valet podium, and a nearby taco stand.

A total of 23 people were rushed to area hospitals for medical treatment, police said. At least seven of the injured suffered critical injuries.
Video from the scene showed dazed clubgoers sitting on the sidewalk, while firefighters and paramedics tended to the injured.
Officers wrapped crime scene tape around the driver’s silver car. The front of the vehicle was mangled and had a shattered windshield.
The driver was identified as 29-year-old Fernando Ramirez. The LAPD told KTLA-TV Ramirez was kicked out of the venue for being disruptive. He returned but was denied entry and appeared “visibly upset.”
The station reported Ramirez got his car and allegedly “drove onto the sidewalk, hitting the taco stand and valet podium before careening into the crowd.”
The station obtained cell phone video that showed people pulling the driver from the car, punching and kicking him as blood dripped down his face.
The LAPD said on the X platform that the driver was shot by a man with a “silver revolver,” who ran away before officers arrived.
Ramirez was hospitalized and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Police are still searching for the gunman.
