Maxwell-Inspired Romance Film ‘Don’t Ever Wonder’ Expands Cast

The upcoming Netflix movie inspired by Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite album now has a title and 10 new cast members.

This week the streaming giant announced the film will be called Don’t Ever Wonder.

Along with the name came news that Blair Underwood, Laz Alonso, Susan Kelechi Watson, Pauletta Washington, Dennis Haysbert, Chante Adams, Algee Smith, Grasie Mercedes, Navia Robinson, and Yolonda Ross have all signed on for roles in the film.

They join Love Jones stars Nia Long and Larenz Tate, who will reunite and lead the cast. The two are also executive producers alongside Maxwell and John D. Hammond.

Sylvie’s Love filmmaker Eugene Ashe is helming the movie from a script he co-wrote with Kay Oyegun (This Is Us).

The movie is currently filming in New Jersey and New York. Producers include James Lopez, Charles D. King, and Poppy Hanks for MACRO Film Studios.

Netflix has been tight-lipped about the storyline, but expect additional details soon.

Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite was released in 1996. The platinum-selling album included the romantic singles “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder),” “Suitelady (The Proposal Jam),” “Whenever Wherever Whatever,” and “Til the Cops Come Knockin’.”
