Don Lemon has issued a warning about the midterm elections, saying he fears the Trump administration will try to “steal” the election by preventing people from going to the polls.

Lemon sounded off at the 12th Annual Truth Awards presented by Better Brothers Los Angeles on March 21, in Beverly Hills.

Urban Hollywood 411 spoke with the veteran journalist, who received a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony for his independent reporting and “unwavering dedication to journalism that informs, challenges, and inspires change.”

The former CNN anchor told us he believes Trump will do anything to maintain power.

“I’m worried about the administration that we have now and what they will do in order to steal elections and to continue us on this terrible path,” Lemon said on the red carpet.

The news anchor added that now is the time to ensure that you are registered to vote.

“I’m hoping people start now to make sure that they have everything they need when they go into the voting booth in November, so that we can get rid of this tyrannical administration and get back to some decency, normalcy, and keep our republic intact,” he said.

Lemon was arrested by federal agents in January, in connection with his coverage of an anti-ICE protest inside a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He streamed coverage of the protest live via his YouTube channel on Jan. 18, to his one million plus subscribers. A week and a half later, he was taken into custody.

The Justice Department alleged Lemon and several others at the protest violated the FACE Act, which prohibits interfering with a person’s access to reproductive health services or religious worship. Lemon pleaded not guilty and called the charges “baseless.”

On Saturday night, he told us he feels confident about his case.

“I have a good legal team, and I also think that in the end, I believe that I will be exonerated,” he stated.

Lemon was surrounded by allies at the Truth Awards and said he felt “overwhelmed” by the support he’s received from Better Brothers Los Angeles, a group dedicated to raising awareness and combating homophobia against the Black LGBTQ+ community.

“It’s like being doubly awarded because it’s Black and gay, and of course, that’s me,” Lemon said. “I can’t even explain how overwhelmed I am by this.”

Biden administration White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, presented him with the award.

The night’s other honorees included actress and singer Jenifer Lewis; television producer Carlos King; entertainer and comedian Flame Monroe; Grammy-winning artist Durand Bernarr; filmmaker and actress Nneka Onuorah; and scholar Dr. Keith Green.
