Sean “Diddy” Combs insists he continues to follow the rules in federal prison, and reports saying he’s been drinking homemade alcohol behind bars are false.
Reps for the music mogul released a statement on social media over the weekend, saying news stories about Combs secretly sipping alcohol concoctions are fake news.
“The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false. His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family,” read a since-deleted statement that was posted to the mogul’s X account on Nov 8.

The statement came after the outlet published an article on Friday, Nov. 7, saying the Bad Boy Records founder “got caught by jail officials” while he was allegedly drinking the homemade alcohol, often referred to as “toilet wine,” “prison hooch,” or “pruno.”
Insiders told TMZ that Combs was consuming a beverage made from Fanta soda, sugar and apples, which is then left to ferment for two weeks.
The report was quickly picked up by other outlets, and led to speculation that the rapper and producer may have been drinking to celebrate his 56th birthday on Nov. 4.
The alleged incident was said to have occurred shortly after he was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, to FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey last month.
Per TMZ, prison officials considered moving Combs to a different unit as punishment, but decided to let him stay where he is currently housed.
After deleting the post on social media, the mogul’s reps sent a statement to People magazine on Nov. 9
“There have been several false and reckless reports circulating about Mr. Combs,” the statement read. “He has not violated any prison rules. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.”
“This is only his first week at FCI Fort Dix, and unfortunately, rumors will surface throughout his time there,” the mogul’s reps added. “We ask the public and the press to give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth, and the grace to move forward in peace.”
Combs was transferred to the New Jersey prison on Oct. 30, from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center where he had been jailed since his arrest in September 2024.
A Manhattan jury convicted him in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
On Oct. 3, a federal judge sentenced him to 50 months in prison. The judge said he would be credited with time served for the 13 months he spent at the MDC since he was arrested in September 2024.
Just before he was sentenced, prosecutors called Combs “unrepentant.”
