September has been one hell of a month for Damon Dash.

Between his bankruptcy filing and apparently getting frozen out of a high-profile deal to adapt his 2002 film Paid in Full into a TV series —  the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder has continued to make headlines.

Now, Dash is back in the news for a radio interview that went off the rails.

He got into a heated debate with Charlamagne Tha God on Tuesday, Sept. 16, during an in-studio appearance on “The Breakfast Club.”

At the start of the interview, Dash said he wanted to set “ground rules,” and would not tolerate being cut off.

When he responded to a question with a question and was cut off, he said: “You’re trying to trigger me.”

Masculinity Insults
The music mogul insisted the married Charlamagne is secretly gay, because he makes a living off of celebrity gossip.

“I don’t think you’re the proper representation of the masculine Black man. Your O.G. is Wendy Williams. My O.G. is sitting right here,” Dash said.

Charlamagne started laughing, which frustrated Dash.

“‘Wendy Williams is the O.G.’ That’s hilarious,” the radio host said.

“Wasn’t she your boss?” Dash asked. “Yeah, at one point,” Charlamagne responded.

“So she was your O.G., she put you on and you should give her her grace. And you should always give her her props out of respect,” Dash said.

“I do,” Charlamagne responded.

Dash questioned his sexuality, again. “Ain’t no disrespect, but I kind of think you’re gay,” he said.

“You got a problem with gay people?” Charlamagne asked.

“Not at all, I’ve got a problem with people who pretend they’re not gay,” Dash said.

“Because you started in gossip, which is very feminine and you want people to listen to you. We want people that represent masculinity because men need to be doing what they need to do as men, they don’t need to be worried about girl stuff,” Dash said.

“Broke” Dash Response
Charlamagne took a shot at Dash’s finances.

“If I’m gay, you’re broke,” he said. “Dame, you move like an old auntie. You’re an old Harlem auntie.”

Dash got angry and threatened violence.

“I can punch you right in your face like a grown man and you won’t do s–t. If we was on the street right now and you were talking like that, I would have f–ked you up,” he said.

Dash stood up and said he was leaving, but when the other hosts said they had questions, he sat back down. The arguing continued and Dash insisted “The Breakfast Club” team was not treating him with respect and berated them for never talking about the charity work he does.

Dame’s 99 Problems and Jay-Z Is One
Dash told Charlamagne he gives his nemesis Jay-Z too much positive press.

“I’ve never seen you say one bad thing about Jay-Z, not one,” Dash said.

Dash launched Roc-A-Fella Records in 1994 with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke. The label produced hit songs and branched out into movies.

In 2013, BET.com reported that Dash once boasted a net worth of more then $50 million. Although the outlet noted at the time he owed millions to the IRS millions for unpaid taxes and was “several months behind” on his bills.

Fast forward to Sept. 4, 2025. He filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Florida, and said in the filing he has more than $25 million in debt, yet only $100 in cash.

Then on Sept. 8, 50 Cent announced he acquired the rights to the 2002 film Paid in Full and was turning it into TV series. The announcement didn’t mention Dash, who produced the movie version through Roc-A-Fella Films.

Dash told The Breakfast Club 50 Cent was trolling because there are no rights to buy.

“He’s cappin’,” Dash said. “I told you he doesn’t have the rights. No one has the rights. Who you gonna buy the rights from?”

Dash said he’s making his own Paid in Full project.

He called the hosts of the show “dumb” and said they know nothing about the business world, despite Charlamagne owning multiple businesses and inking a podcast partnership deal with iHeart Media, and DJ Envy’s real estate investment portfolio.
