Boosie Badazz is moving closer to putting his legal troubles behind him, after announcing he accepted a plea deal in his federal weapons possession case.

The Louisiana rapper — born Torrence Hatch Jr. — shared the news on social media Monday, Aug. 4, telling fans he’s “tired of fighting” the case that stretched on for over two years.

Boosie was initially arrested in May 2023 after the San Diego Police Department monitored an Instagram livestream showing him with a gun tucked into his waistband while filming a music video.

Detectives said he was filming at a residence associated with a “known Neighborhood Crip,” and the video shoot was in the backyard.

After leaving the home, police used a helicopter to track the SUV Boosie was in and he was arrested during a traffic stop. Officers said they found two loaded handguns. Boosie and another man were taken into custody, as previously reported.

The rapper pleaded not guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors said he had prior convictions in Louisiana on drug charges.

The state case was evenutally dropped. Weeks later, Boosie returned to court for an appearance in the same case on June 14, and he was taken into custody outside the courtroom under a federal indictment, Fox 5 San Diego reported at the time.

The indictment alleged the rapper threatened his bodyguard’s life for not saying weapons recovered during the traffic stop were his, while the two were in custody. An officer working in the jail reportedly heard Boosie tell the man, “You’re gonna be in a body bag.”

Prosecutors argued the rapper posed a danger to the community and was a flight risk.

Despite those concerns, a federal judge granted him $100,000 bail. He has remained free on bond since then while fighting the charges.

On Monday, Boosie confirmed on X that he had reached a deal with federal prosecutors. “JUST ACCEPTED A PLEA FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON MY GUN CASE,” he wrote. “I THOUGHT THIS CASE WAS OVER N I WAS GOING TO GET ON WITH MY LIFE BUT ‘GOD DONT MAKE MISTAKES’ N IM TIRED OF FIGHTING!!”

He added that his family supported the decision and asked for prayers. He also vowed to focus on working on new music while jailed.

This comes after the rapper dropped his latest project, Words of a Real One, on Aug. 1, just days before announcing the plea deal.

The Baton Rouge native, formerly known as “Lil Boosie,” built his career on hits like “Wipe Me Down” and “Set It Off.”

In 2024, during the presidential election, Boosie publicly called on candidates, then–Vice President Kamala Harris and now President Donald Trump to grant him a pardon. Hours after Trump’s victory was projected, Boosie renewed that request.

It seems he never made it onto Trump’s radar.
