‘Basketball Wives’ Star Ming Lee Drops Receipts on Jackie-Chantel Fight

Ming Lee Discusses Basketball Wives Drama (Credit: YouTube)

Basketball Wives star Ming Lee says fellow season 12 newcomer, Chantel Christie-Jeffries is telling tall tales about the on-camera fight she had with her mom, Jackie Christie.

Ming uploaded a video to her YouTube channel on Monday Aug. 4, about the drama on the VH1 reality show that has fans burning up social media.

The beauty mogul once again apologized to series veteran Jackie Christie for initially siding with Chantel, when the mother and daughter got into a physical altercation that aired on the show’s July 21 episode.

Chantel appeared on TV producer Carlos King’s podcast last week (we didn’t watch), and offered her side of what happened. The title of the episode was “I Take Accountability,” which she also said on the season 12 finale of Basketball Wives.

But days before the finale aired, Chantel posted a defiant two-page statement to Instagram, saying about the fight: “What you witnessed was a masterclass in narcissism — someone lighting the fire behind the scenes, then walking away so you look like the arsonist.”

So here’s what BBW‘s producers showed on TV. Tensions between the mother and daughter had been building all season. Chantel sat silently as Brittany Renner and Denise Garcia called Jackie names — behind her back and to her face. Chantel sided with Brittany during a nasty dispute between the fitness influencer and Jackie while the cast was in Las Vegas.

The situation between Chantel and Jackie escalated during a cast trip to Hawaii. The two sat down to talk in a patio area at the resort where they were staying. Chantel criticized her mom for always walking away “like a cowardly lion” whenever they had a dispute and cut her mom off when she tried to talk.

Jackie got up to leave, again, and Chantel yelled: “That’s why your husband is gonna leave you and your kids don’t like you.”

Later in the episode, Chantel went to Jackie’s room after Ty Young suggested they try to work things out. Instead of conflict resolution, Chantel said: “I came back up here to tell you that going forward, we won’t be going forward. We’re done.” You can read the full recap here.

Jackie asked Chantel to leave her room and Chantel started to leave, but turned around. The two had words and Chantel pushed her mom.

“B—h, I’ll knock you out,” Jackie said as she took a swing at Chantel.

“You dumbass b—h,” Chantel yelled several times and tried to hit Jackie with her purse. Security separated the two and a producer held Jackie back.

Moments later, Jackie was heard speaking on the phone with her husband, retired NBA star Doug Christie. “Dougie, she’s out of control,” Jackie said.

Chantel went to another room where the other women were and told them Jackie “swung on me.” She left out the part where she pushed her mom.

After the episode aired, Ming issued a public apology to Jackie on her Instagram Story, saying: “If anything I said or did came off offensive, that was never my intention and I’m truly sorry. I was under the impression you swung first and that shaped how I saw it.”

Tonight, Ming said on her YouTube video she should have stayed out of family business and just listened. Regardless, she said Chantel is a liar.

“My problem with Chantel is that you lied. You came down to that room after the altercation and you manipulated me,” she said. “Watching it back on TV, I felt like I was manipulated.”

Ming added that she reached out to Chantel and there were multiple communications, but Chantel never said what really happened.

“At some point, you could have cleared up the narrative… at no point did you say, ‘Hey, I pushed my mom first,'” she said.

Ming then dropped a receipt about Doug Christie, who in May was officially named head coach of the Sacramento Kings.

“[Chantel] even said that your dad was requesting the footage and he wanted to see who was telling the truth because you had your side of the story and your mom had her side of the story,” Ming revealed.

She also admitted that she has a “rocky” relationship with her own mom who was shown on the season finale. But she said, “At no point could I push my mom and not be knocked into the middle of next week.”

Ming wished the Christie family the best and sent a message to Chantel: “You didn’t take no accountability.”

She posted the video on the same night the season began airing on BET.
