Ayesha Curry gets in the holiday spirit, and inadvertently makes a shocking announcement, in Hulu’s upcoming Christmas movie Joy to the World.
Curry plays a TV host alongside Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill and Freakier Friday) and Emmanuelle Chriqui (You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Superman & Lois).
Chriqui stars as lifestyle guru “Joy Edwards,” who’s trying to sell copies of a cookbook focusing on her happy home life. The problem, she’s single and doesn’t have a husband, like the book claims.
When a TV network decides to film Christmas dinner “at her fabled, but fabricated, country home,” Chriqui’s author cooks up a plan and recruits her best friend Max (Murray) to pose as her husband for the cameras.

Hulu unveiled the trailer for the movie on Monday, Oct. 27, showing Curry’s talk show host interviewing Chriqui’s author about her book “Christmas at Goose Lane.”
The TV host catches the author completely off guard, when she blurts out to the audience that her next show will be filmed at the writer’s house.
“We’re all going to Goose Lane for Christmas! Joy is going to be broadcasting live from her home on Christmas Eve,” Curry says.
A horrified Chriqui replies, “What?”
With only 72 hours to come up with a family, the writer convinces Murray’s character to pose as her husband. Sparks fly between the two and “they both discover something real along the way,” according to the official description.
Curry is no stranger to taking center stage on a TV show. She hosted Food Network’s Ayesha’s Home Kitchen, served as a guest judge on cooking shows Chopped Junior and Family Food Fight, appeared multiple times on Rachael Ray, and filled in as a guest host on the 4th hour of Today.
In addition to Curry, Chriqui, and Murray, Joy to the World stars Josh Reich, Taya Messier, Heleene Lohan Cameron, Guy Sprung, Daniel Kash, Farid Yazdani, Sarah Hillier, Kelly Martin, Steve Pigozzo, and Martin Moreau.
The romantic comedy comes from BRK Distribution.
The movie is directed by Jerry Ciccoritti from a script written by Neal and Tippi Dobrofsky.
Executive producers include Brad Krevoy, Lorenzo Nardini, Amanda Phillips, Alex Vassilakos, Susie Belzberg Krevoy, and Jerry Ciccoritti, with David Anselmo serving as producer.
Joy to the World begins streaming Saturday, Nov. 1 on Disney+ and Hulu.
