Angel Reese is stepping up her acting game with a role on Netflix drama series, The Hunting Wives.
The streamer announced the news on Tuesday, Jan. 20, saying the two-time WNBA All-Star is joining the cast for the show’s second season in a co-starring role as “Trainer Barbie.”
Season 2 of the series is currently in production, Netflix said in a press release.
Reese previously had a small role in Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow’s doomsday thriller A House of Dynamite.
The Chicago Sky forward shared the news about her new gig on X Tuesday morning, tweeting “Trainer Barbie” along with basketball, popcorn and film camera emojis.
Also joining the show in season 2 are Kim Matula, Alex FitzAlan, John Stamos, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet.
The returning cast includes Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Branton Box.
Based on a novel by the same name from May Cobb, the drama follows wife and mother Sophie (Brittany Snow), who moves from Massachusetts to the fictional East Texas town of Maple Brook with her family. After getting drawn into the glamorous, dangerous world of a socialite clique known as “Hunting Wives,” Sophie becomes entangled in a “web of obsession, secrets, and ultimately murder,” according to the official description
Season one debuted in July of 2025, and spent five weeks in Netflix’s global English Top 10 TV list, with more than 20 million views on the platform.
The show was created by Rebecca Cutter, who also serves as executive producer, showrunner and writer.
Last summer Reese tagged Cutter on X, and said she was interested in joining the cast. Obviously, the post got the producer and writer’s attention.
Lionsgate produces the series for Netflix. A premiere date for the eight-episode second season will be announced at a later date.
