The search for Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother took a new turn Tuesday, when TMZ announced it had received an alleged ransom note listing demands for the safe return of Nancy Guthrie.

On Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 3, the celebrity gossip outlet released a video statement on social media, saying it was sent an email today demanding “millions” in Bitcoin for Nancy’s return.

“We got something in our email that’s written like a ransom note,” TMZ founder Harvey Levin said. Executive producer Charles Latibeaudiere added that the note requested a specific amount, with details on where to send it.

An article on TMZ’s website said the outlet “verified the Bitcoin address is real.”

Nancy, 84, was reported missing on Sunday, Feb. 1, after a friend notified her children saying the faithful churchgoer never showed up for Sunday service. The Octogenarian was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday night when family members paid her a visit.

Authorities confirmed Monday they suspect foul play.

Harvey Levin highlighted details included in the possible ransom note.

“There are certain things they’re saying about what [Nancy] was wearing and damage to the house,” said Levin. “We’ve contacted the sheriff’s department and we want to get them this letter.”

“We don’t know if this is legit,”  Latibeaudiere added.

Earlier in the day, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos held a televised media briefing on the case.

“We’re looking at all the leads,” Nanos told reporters. “We do believe that Nancy was taken from her home against her will, and that’s where we’re at.”

Nanos was joined by Jon Edwards, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI field office in Tucson. Edwards said the agency is assisting the sheriff’s department with “analytical and technical support” — including going through cell phone data and cell tower information, and conducting interviews.

Savannah Guthrie posted a plea for information and prayers Monday night on Instagram.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,” she wrote alongside an image that read: “Please pray.”

“Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,” she added. “Bring her home.”
