Quinton Aaron, an actor best known for his role in The Blind Side, is on life support after he woke up feeling ill and collapsed at his home.
The actor’s wife, Margarita Aaron, spoke with TMZ on Monday, Jan. 26 and confirmed Quinton has been hospitalized for four days. “He opened his eyes today and gave a thumbs up,” she said.
While he is connected to medical devices, Margarita said Quinton can partially breathe on his own.
A GoFundMe Page set up to help pay for long-term care, reads: “He is still on life support and going through tests. We are looking at quite a recovery time and will need a wheelchair when he is released while he goes through therapy to walk again.”
Quinton’s health crisis began when he woke up one morning feeling sore, his wife said. He thought the discomfort was caused by a bad night’s sleep, but a few days later, he still felt pain in his neck and back. He then collapsed while walking up the stairs.
Margarita, who is a registered nurse, said she rendered aid and called 911. She added that Quinton slipped in and out of consciousness on the way to the hospital.
Doctors are still trying to figure out why he collapsed. They determined he has a blood infection, but Margarita said he is fighting to get better.
“He’s showing a lot of improvement. We all have faith in God that he will walk out of here fully recovered,” she said.
In October 2025, Quinton revealed he had lost 200 lbs. and showed off the results on Instagram. He told TMZ at the time, “At my heaviest, I was 575 pounds. As of today, I am 370 pounds.”
The actor played former NFL player Michael Oher in The Blind Side (2009), which told the story of how Oher went from homelessness to an All-American football player after a couple named Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy took him in. Although Oher later took legal action against the couple over profits from the film.
Sandra Bullock played Leigh Anne in the movie, Tim McGraw portrayed Sean. The film made $309 million at the worldwide box office and earned Bullock a best actress Oscar.
Quinton most recently appeared in the 2025 BET+ thriller War Dawgz, alongside Michael Beach, Kadeem Hardison, Carl Anthony Payne II, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Raven-Symone, Golden Brooks, and Jill Marie Jones.
He currently has 11 roles in the pipeline, according to his IMDb page. A rep for the actor did not immediately respond to Urban Hollywood 411‘s request for comment.
