Nicki Minaj says President Donald Trump is “very authentic,” but his message is getting drowned out because of “lies” by the media.
The rapper discussed her support for Trump during a Saturday, Sept. 26, interview on Fox News’ My View With Lara Trump, hosted by the president’s daughter-in-law.
Minaj praised Trump and described him as “funny,” “charismatic” and real.
“I always say, he’s just a very authentic person. He’s always been himself,” the rapper said. “People pretend now that they have an issue with him but the truth is everyone loves him.”

The “Super Bass” performer claimed Trump has gotten a bad reputation because of the media, although she did not give specifics on which outlets she was referring to or what coverage she thinks is untrue.
“They’ve put out so many lies that after a certain amount of time when you hear a lie over and over and over and over, especially when you are young or just uninformed, you just start thinking these things are truths,” she said. “And that’s why I don’t like the fact that the media does not understand their responsibility in the role they played in all of this.”
The hip-hop star also slammed critics who say Trump is racist, particularly toward Black and Brown people.
“If you think someone is racist, of course you’re not gonna like them,” she said. “I feel like if they got to know him and did their own research, I think they would know that it’s just political theater.”
Minaj then turned to the upcoming midterm elections and urged young people to “vote red.”
“Now is not the time to think that your voice will not be heard,” she stated. “We need you guys involved more than ever before. This is your country, this is your world. You are the ones that have to reap the benefits of whatever vote decisions we make now.”
She did not discuss some of the main issues getting attention ahead of the election, including the war in Iran, soaring gas prices, the affordability crisis, immigration crackdowns and ICE raids.
Minaj, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago, did talk about moving to the U.S. and becoming one of the most successful women in hip-hop. She described her journey as an example of the American dream.
Over the past year, Minaj has become increasingly vocal about her support for Trump. As Urban Hollywood 411 previously reported, she called herself his “No. 1 fan” in January.
