Fans hoping to see the cast of Insecure together again got some disappointing news, the show’s planned 13-city anniversary tour has been canceled.
Series stars Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis and Natasha Rothwell joined showrunner Prentice Penny in a video posted on social media to explain why the tour was scrapped, and to thank fans for “rocking” with them over the past decade.
None of the actors appeared eager to deliver the disappointing news, so they left the task to Penny.
“We are so sorry we had to cancel the tour. We are also bummed. I’m serious,” Penny said in the video. “But everybody started working, which is good.”
Rae explained scheduling conflicts made it impossible for the full group to take part.
“Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up,” she said. “But we only wanted to do this if we could all be there and give you the best experience possible.”
Insecure premiered on HBO in 2016 and wrapped production in December 2021. The live tour was set to mark 10 years since the show premiered, with candid conversations, behind-the-scenes stories and reflections on the acclaimed series’ cultural impact.
Announced in July, the tour was scheduled to begin Sept. 10 at The Met in Philadelphia and make 13 stops before wrapping on Oct. 8 in Inglewood. But the anniversary celebration is not completely off.
The cast will still reunite for a special 10th anniversary event on Oct. 8 at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood—the city “where it all started,” Penny said in the video.
