Jamie Foxx is returning to the stage with a new round of comedy and cultural commentary in Jamie Foxx: Take Care of Yourself.

Hulu announced the title and premiere date for the stand-up special on Wednesday, Aug. 19, and released a first-look photo showing the actor, comedian, singer and producer at the mic.

Jamie Foxx: Take Care of Yourself delivers a much-needed dose of self-care in his most honest, evolved and unforgettable chapter yet,” the official synopsis reads.

The special is scheduled to premiere Oct. 7 on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S., and internationally on Disney+.

The project follows Foxx’s December 2024 Netflix special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, which the Ray star recorded after recovering from a 2023 stroke.

During the Netflix special, Foxx mixed comedy and music while opening up about the medical emergency that left him hospitalized and out of the spotlight for months.

“I was having a bad headache and I asked my boy for an aspirin,” he recalled. “Before I could get the aspirin, I went out. I don’t remember 20 days.”

Foxx said he was initially misdiagnosed and sent home after receiving a cortisone shot. His sister, Deidra Dixon, later took him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, where doctors discovered he had suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

Urban Hollywood 411 was there in May 2025, as an emotional Foxx recounted his recovery and the process of returning to the stage during a Q&A with Hollywood awards voters.

“It was daunting,” he said about writing jokes and recording the comedy special after falling ill.

Foxx attended the event to campaign for awards consideration and kept the audience laughing. He did impressions of the late Notorious B.I.G. and acting legend Denzel Washington, before riffing on his frenemy Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal troubles.

“Why you so nasty, Diddy? ‘Cause I’m a nasty motherf–ker. Take that, take that, take that,’” he said while imitating Combs. “That makes you listen to that differently. What are we taking, because I don’t want any of that.”

He added, “For the Black people in here, you know how that hurts us, because Diddy was [known for] ‘It’s All About the Benjamins,’ that was our whole culture. Now it’s all about the baby oil.”

The multi-hyphenate will be back with more jokes when Jamie Foxx: Take Care of Yourself premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 on Hulu.
