The nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards were announced Wednesday, with HBO’s The Pitt leading the competition with 25 nods.
Hacks, another HBO show, set a new record for a comedy series, with 24 nominations in a single year, the Television Academy said. The previous record belonged to The Studio and The Bear with 23 nominations each.
Among the acting nominees, Sterling K. Brown picked up a nomination in the lead actor in a drama series category for his performance in the apocalyptic political thriller, Paradise.
In the lead actress in a drama series category, Chase Infiniti was nominated for The Testaments and Zendaya picked up a nomination for Euphoria.
Wonder Man star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II received a nomination in the lead actor in a comedy series category. The nominees in the lead actress in a comedy series category included Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary and Ayo Edebiri for The Bear.
Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) and Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere) hosted the live streamed nominations ceremony along with Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
“This year’s nominees represent the extraordinary creativity and artistry that make television such a dynamic form of entertainment,” said Abrego.
Emmy Award winner Mariska Hargitay is set to host this year’s awards. The ceremony will air live coast-to-coast from Los Angeles Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and stream on Peacock.
The majority of the trophies will be handed out at The Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026.
