Tyler Perry’s The Oval will say goodbye after its upcoming seventh season.
In a press release on Thursday, May 14, BET and Paramount+ announced the show’s seventh and final season will premiere May 20, with new episodes released weekly.
Ed Quinn and Kron Moore lead the cast of the political drama as Hunter and Victoria Franklin, the president and the first lady of the United States. According to BET, the final season will see the couple return to the White House, with a mission to “reclaim their throne.”
“As Hunter and Victoria launch their ‘Make The Franklins Great Again’ campaign amid national crisis and crumbling alliances, they’ll soon discover the greatest threat to their reign has been inside all along,” the official description reads.

The cast also includes Javon Johnson, Ptosha Storey, Daniel Croix Henderson, Lodric Collins, Walter Fauntleroy, Taja V. Simpson, Brad Benedict, Travis Cure, Bill Barrett, Nick Barrotta, Kaye Singleton, and Russell Thomas.
News of the season 7 release comes nearly a month after the entire 22-episode season was mistakenly added to Paramount+, then removed. On April 25, TheGrio reported the new season “appeared without warning” on the platform to the delight of fans, then “suddenly vanished.”
The Oval made its debut on BET+ in 2019. The drama centers on what can happen when the leader of the free world, his wife and family are involved in outrageous behavior.
Now that BET+ and its content are being integrated into Paramount+ — following a mega-merger, the show has a new home.
The drama is produced by Tyler Perry Studios, with Tyler Perry serving as executive producer. Mark E. Swinton writes and Armani Ortiz directs.
The seventh and final season of The Oval premieres Wednesday, May 20, on Paramount+ at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT. The drama airs that same evening at 9 p.m. ET/PT on BET. The 22-episode season will air weekly, concluding on Sept. 30.
