Megan Thee Stallion was hospitalized Tuesday night in New York City after becoming ill during a Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The Grammy-winning rapper began to feel sick in the middle of the show at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, and was rushed to an area hospital, her rep Didier Morais told The Hollywood Reporter.

“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” Morais said in a statement. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”

The rapper, born Megan Pete, was officially announced as part of the show’s cast in February.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ team is an absolute honor,” she said at the time. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”

The “Savage” rapper is the first female performer to play the role of Zidler in the musical, the theater previously said. She was scheduled to perform in the gender-swapped role from March 24 through May 17, 2026.

The musical released a preview of Megan in costume on its YouTube page last week, and teased the performance would be “Savage. Classy. Bougie. Spectacular!”

The show is based on the hit 2001 film Moulin Rouge! directed by Baz Luhrmann and written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce. The film told the story of Christian, a struggling artist in 1890s Paris, who fell in love with Satine, a lady of the night and nightclub star.

Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, and John Leguizamo led the cast of the Oscar-winning film.
