The Hollywood Walk of Fame will recognize the Isley Brothers this week by awarding the legendary group the 2,834th star on the Los Angeles landmark.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is shouting how proud we are to welcome The Isley Brothers to the Hollywood Walk of Fame” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a press release.

“Their incredible legacy in music has influenced generations of artists and fans around the world, and we’re proud to celebrate their enduring impact with this well-deserved star,” added Martinez.

The family group launched in the 1950s as a gospel quartet in Cincinnati, Ohio. After 13-year-old Vernon Isley was struck by a vehicle and killed, the remaining brothers — O’Kelly, Rudolph, and Ronald moved to New York City in 1957 to pursue their dreams.

They rose to national prominence in 1959 with the single “Shout.” In the 1960s, the group scored top 20 hits with the iconic song “Twist and Shout” (1961), the Motown release “This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)” (1966) and the Grammy Award-winning hit “It’s Your Thing” (1969) on their own label T-Neck Records.

The trio expanded in the 1970s by adding their younger brothers Ernie Isley (lead guitar, drums), Marvin Isley (bass guitar), and Rudolph’s brother-in-law Chris Jasper (keyboards, synthesizers).

Over the years, the Isley Brothers took home one competitive Grammy Award and received the 2014 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, according to Grammy.com. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, and welcomed into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022.

Ron and Ernie continue to record music and are still touring.

The Isley Brothers will be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 11:30 AM PT, with their star located at 7051 Hollywood Boulevard. Guest speakers include Sony Music Publishing CEO and Chairman Jon Platt and music producer and songwriter Terry Lewis.

The ceremony streams live for fans around the world at www.walkoffame.com.
