He’s never done it before, but Snoop Dogg says he plans to vote for the first time in November.
During an interview Thursday on Los Angeles radio station Real 92.3, the rapper said it wasn’t apathy that kept him away from the polls. He just didn’t think he was allowed to vote because of past felony convictions in 1990 and 2007.
“For many years they had me brainwashed thinking that you couldn’t vote because you had a criminal record,” Snoop told radio personality Big Boy. “My record’s been expunged so now I can vote.”

The 48-year-old rapper added that he can’t sit on the sidelines because he wants President Donald Trump out of the White House.
“I ain’t never voted a day in my life, but this year I think I’m going to get out and vote because I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year,” he said.
The Long Beach, California native encouraged his fans to get out and vote as well.
“We got to make a difference. I can’t talk about it and not be about it,” he said.
The “Lay Low” rapper also talked about the May 25 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and the protests taking place in cities across the United States, and in other countries, demanding an end to police brutality.
“Racism is a mentality. You’re either for it or against it,” Snoop Dogg said about the four officers involved in Floyd’s death.
The hip-hop star then praised the African American man’s family for urging protesters to remain peaceful.
“Even in this time of mourning, his family, they don’t want violence. That’s forgiveness, because naturally, you kill mine, I’m killing yours,” he said on the program.
