As previously reported, Cannon came under fire for comments he made in June 2020 while interviewing Public Enemy’s Richard “Professor Griff” Griffin about race and racism. During the controversial conversation, the TV host shared anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, praised the ideas of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and said Black people are the “true Hebrews.”

VH1’s parent company ViacomCBS ended its relationship with Cannon last summer, and then patched things up with the actor, TV show host and musician in February and re-signed him as host Wild N’ Out, a show he created and executive produces. When the controversy unfolded, Cannon blasted ViacomCBS in a Facebook post saying his “ownership was swindled away.”

The new season of Wild N’ Out premieres Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
