Whoopi Goldberg Blasts Presidential Hopeful for Dismissing Fox News

Whoopi Goldberg has a pointed message for Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

During Wednesday’s episode of The View, Goldberg took the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to task for refusing to appear in a town hall for Fox News.

“People come to [‘The View’] because they know folks are watching, whether it’s on the left or the right, or center,” Goldberg said. “You know what, if you can’t face a Fox audience, you can’t face the U.S. — it’s that simple.”

Fellow View co-host Sunny Hostin agreed with Goldberg’s take, stating: “It’s being very dismissive of so many Americans for her not to go on Fox News.”

She added: “There are a lot of real journalists there like Chris Wallace, like Shep Smith. I think if you want to be president of the United States for everyone, then you need to speak to everyone.”

Their comments came after Warren said she was taking a “hard pass” on the right-leaning news net.

“A Fox News town hall adds money to the hate-for-profit machine. To which I say: hard pass,” Warren tweeted Tuesday, May 14. “Fox News is welcome to come to my events just like any other outlet.”

Although Warren is refusing to appear on Fox, other 2020 Democratic contenders have graced the network’s town halls, including Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Sanders defended his decision, stating: “To me, it is important to distinguish ‘Fox News’ from the many millions of people who watch Fox News. I think it is important to talk to Trump supporters and explain to them to what degree he has betrayed the working class of this country and lied during his campaign.”

South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) also plan to participate in Fox News town halls.

However, journalist Yashar Ali reported in his newsletter Wednesday that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) plans to pass on an offer to take part in a Fox News town hall.
