Trevor Noah: Trump Is First President to ‘Deliver’ on Campaign Promises

Daily Show host Trevor Noah frequently trashes President Trump. But on Thursday night during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Comedy Central star gave POTUS props for following through on his campaign promises.

“Donald Trump was elected and proceeded to do the things that he had promised, ironically, right?” Noah told Kimmel. “Because I mean, it’s funny that Donald Trump would be the first presidential candidate to actually deliver. Hate him or love him, hate him or love him, he’s doing the things that he said he was going to do.”

The Daily Show star added that no one should be surprised by Trump’s immigration policies.

“In the beginning, people were like, ‘He’s doesn’t mean build a wall, he doesn’t mean ban all Muslims,’” the comedian said. “He’s like, ‘No. It means that. It totally means that.’”

Noah, 35, brought up the president after Kimmel asked him if he could believe how “nutty” the country had become since he was hired to replace Jon Stewart in 2015.

The South Africa native said what really surprised him was that his detractors didn’t think he was “angry” enough for the job.

“One of the main things people have said to me was — they said, ‘You’re just not angry enough, Trevor. Where’s your indignation?’” Noah explained.

He added that he didn’t understand why Americans were so angry at the time because things were going great in the country before President Obama left office.

“I was like, ‘What do you have to be angry about? Things are going great right now; your economy is growing, your president is loved, your footprint around the world is one that’s being cemented as the super power. I was like, what are you angry about?'” he said. “Then people had all of this faux anger and they were like, ‘You’ve got to be angry’ and I was like ‘There’s nothing to be angry about.

Kimmel joked that anger is the American way.

“We’re always angry about something. If there’s nothing important to be angry about, we’ll find something dumb to be angry about,” Kimmel said. “Somebody will put pineapple on a pizza and we’ll lose our minds.”
