Sarah Sanders is leaving her post as White House press secretary, President Trump announced Thursday on Twitter.

“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of  Arkansas,” Trump tweeted at 4:10 p.m. ET. “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

In a follow-up tweet, Trump said he hopes Sanders runs for governor of Arkansas.

“She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic,” he wrote.

Others might disagree about Sanders doing an “incredible” job.

She was a fierce defender of the president and became notorious for her combative exchanges with reporters. Critics often described her as being rude and exaggerating the truth.

Sanders is the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. She took the press secretary job after Sean Spicer left the White House.
