A new version of The Equalizer is in the works with Queen Latifah in the lead role.
The Oscar-nominated actress will star in a pilot for a potential reboot of the original CBS series, Variety reported Monday.
The Equalizer ran from 1985 to 1989, and starred Edward Woodward as a retired intelligence agent who helped people out of difficult situations. The series inspired two hit films starring Denzel Washington.

Queen Latifah will be an executive producer on the pilot, in addition to taking on the lead role.
Husband-and-wife team Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller will serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, original series co-creator Richard Lindheim, and Shakim Compere of Flavor Unit Entertainment will also executive produce.
Universal Television will produce the pilot in association with CBS Television Studios.
Queen Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, got her start in show business as a rapper. After segueing into acting, she previously had roles on the TV series Living Single, Star, and played singer Bessie Smith in the HBO film Bessie.
On the big screen, she has co-starred in Girls Trip, Hairspray, The Secret Life of Bees, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Beauty Shop, and Chicago, which earned her a supporting actress Oscar nomination.
