OWN Unveils Trailer for Inner-City Drama ‘David Makes Man’

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network is about to get real and raw with David Makes Man, a drama about the struggles, violence and trauma that often accompany life in the projects.

The series, from Oscar-winning Moonlight co-writer Tarell Alvin McCraney and Warner Horizon Scripted Television, centers on a 14-year-old from the hood who is haunted by the death of his closest friend, according to OWN. The teen must choose between the streets that raised him and the education that could offer him a way out.

The drama is inspired by real events in McCraney’s life and stars newcomer Akili McDowell in the title role of David. Alana Arenas and Phylicia Rashad co-star.
