OWN Unveils Season 5 Release Date, New Gospel Song for ‘Greenleaf’

Season 5 of Greenleaf is set to premiere on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in June 2020, the cable network announced Easter Sunday.

According to a description from OWN, the new season will feature the Greenleafs attempting to maintain a united front after losing their church to Bob Whitmore and Harmony and Hope Ministries, but secrets past and present will create what could be fatal fractures in the family’s foundation.

The series stars Merle Dandridge as Grace Greenleaf; Keith David as Bishop James Greenleaf; Lynn Whitfield as Lady Mae Greenleaf; Kim Hawthorne as Kerissa Greenleaf; Lamman Rucker as Jacob Greenleaf; and Deborah Joy Winans as Charity Greenleaf-Satterjee.

As part of its announcement, OWN released a first-listen clip of a new recording of “Goin Up Yonder,” by Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Tramaine Hawkins.

The show was named outstanding drama series in February at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards.

The megachurch drama is produced for OWN by Lionsgate in association with Harpo Films and Pine City. Executive producers are Oprah Winfrey, Craig Wright, Clement Virgo, and Kriss Turner Towner.
