There’s a mysterious invasion underway in the trailer for Nope and Keke Palmer warns it’s time to “run!”

Universal Pictures dropped the trailer for the Jordan Peele thriller early Sunday morning. It begins with Palmer in a TV studio excitedly talking about the history of the only Black-owned horse training ranch in Hollywood.

But her happiness quickly turns to horror when the horses sense something is amiss and the lights go out in her inland California town. As residents look toward the sky for answers, they bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

The film also stars Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) and Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), who reteams with Peele after their successful collaboration in the Oscar-winning thriller Get Out.

Additional cast members include Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld), Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), and Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria).

Nope is written and directed by Peele and produced by Ian Cooper (Us, Candyman). Peele also produces through his Monkeypaw Productions company.

This is the third movie Peele has directed after Get Out (2017) and Us (2019). He took home a best original screenplay Academy Award for writing Get Out about a young Black man who uncovers shocking secrets when he meets the family of his white girlfriend.

Last year Kaluuya won a best supporting actor Oscar for his performance as Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah.

Nope will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide. The film is slated to arrive in U.S. theaters on July 22, 2022.
