It’s news that will have some James Bond fans shaken and stirred.
A report out this weekend says British actress Lashana Lynch, who played Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel, will take over the 007 code name from Daniel Craig.
Lynch will be introduced in the yet-to-be-titled 25th Bond film. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Bond will pass the 007 torch in the film.
“There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, ‘Come in 007,’ and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful, and a woman. It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman,” an insider told the publication.

The source added, “Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning.”
Lynch joined the cast of Bond 25 in April. While she will reportedly be the new female 007, she’s not the new Bond. Instead, she’ll play a character who takes over Bond’s secret agent number after he leaves British spy agency MI6.

The new film will find Bond relaxing in Jamaica when he comes out of retirement to deal with a new global crisis.
Joining star Daniel Craig are Jeffrey Wright, Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Billy Magnussen, David Dencik, Dali Benssalah and Lynch. Returning franchise cast members include Ralph Fiennes, Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear and Ben Whishaw.
The latest installment of the Bond franchise is currently in the midst of shooting. It will be interesting to see if Lynch’s character keeps the 007 code name.
Bond 25 is slated to open in April 2020.
