Issa Rae plans to Set It Off with a remake of the 1996 crime thriller.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rae will produce, and possibly star in a re-imagining of the New Line Cinema film.

The original told the story of four friends who become fed up with their low-wage jobs and decide to pull off a series of bank robberies. Initially the robberies are successful. But over time, the quartet runs into trouble and must make difficult decisions.

The drama starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise, and was directed by F. Gary Gray.

It became a critical and box office hit, making $41 million worldwide on a $9 million production budget.

Insecure co-creator Rae will produce the remake alongside her Issa Rae Productions partner Montrel McKay. They’ve enlisted Black Monday‘s Syreeta Singleton and Nina Gloster of Star to write the script.
